Rules card, draft

House rules

The draft rules card that will ship with every lane. It works on any putting setup, so steal it for your own game. We will update it as playtests shake out what is fun.

Setup

  1. Two sides: one player each, or teams of two or three.
  2. Rack ten cups in a pyramid at each end of the lane.
  3. Each side putts from its own start line toward the other side's rack.

Play

  1. Take turns: one putt per player per turn.
  2. Sink a cup and it lights up. The other side removes it.
  3. First side to clear the other rack wins.

The house rules

Elbows

If any part of your putter crosses the start line, the putt does not count.

Re-rack

Once per game, each side can call a re-rack and pull its remaining cups into a tighter shape.

Island

Call "island" on a cup with no neighbors. Sink it and you remove a second cup of your choice.

Redemption

When your last cup goes, every player on your side gets one putt to sink a cup and stay alive.

Lip-outs

A ball that rims out counts as a miss. No arguing with the lane.

Putting tip: pick a speed that would roll the ball about a foot past the cup. Most missed short putts are speed misses, not line misses.
